SPECIALTY MEDICAL EQUIPMENT & BUILDING NEEDS
Our community would be blessed to have the following facility and technology available so that families do not have to travel to neighboring counties with stressed and very sick pets. Having the facility and equipment in Santa Barbara provides our veterinary community with access to more advanced diagnostics as well as the ability to hospitalize our pet companions locally so that frequent visitation is viable:
Contribute to the building fund (C.A.R.E. Hospital or Alamo Pintado)
(A building is available to expand C.A.R.E. Hospital once funds are available. Recognition for any of these donations will be prominently displayed in the facility). Gifts may be cash, property and/or securities and may be made in honor or memory of a special pet or person. Donations can be designated for use where the need is greatest or for special funds including education, intern and/or residency training program(s), animal medical care, equipment, building fund, and/or pet loss services.
A new building would provide for the following much needed equipment and space:
- An MRI - currently our community must travel out of county to obtain this important diagnostic information
- Hyperbaric Oxygen - proven to be a promising treatment for everything from snake bites to respiratory illness
- Hydrotherapy Pool for dogs great for rehabilitation and physical therapy
- Conference Room Continuing Education for specialists and guest lecturers to present current research, new techniques and equipment -- maintaining state of the art veterinary and animal shelter care in Santa Barbara; location for staff meetings and for board meetings for both C.A.R.E. Hospital, Shiva’s Center, and other pet service meetings (as available).
- Comfort Room a large, peaceful room in the new building where pet families can say their last goodbye to their animal companion staying as long as is necessary. This room would also be used for veterinarians to share difficult information with families in a private and comfortable space.
- Office Location Shiva’s Center currently works out of board members homes and meets at conference rooms from board members employers.
- Additional High Resolution Computer Monitors for sharing digital radiography images to pet families in C.A.R.E. Hospitals exam rooms.
- Backup generator for critical equipment (e.g., ventilators, fluid pumps, surgical suites, oxygen, etc) to operate during power outages. Either a one highly powered generator or approximately 3 smaller generators are needed.
- Matching gifts with businesses, foundations, individuals, etc.
- Airline miles - American, United, Delta to use for veterinarians from outside of the Central Coast to interview with C.A.R.E. Hospital or Alamo Pintado
- Hotel gift certificates for working interviews for ER veterinarians, veterinary specialists and/or other key veterinary staff
PET TRANSPORTATION
Pet ambulance for transport of critical animals between primary care vets and 24-hour specialty hospital and/or alternative facilities that have necessary services.
Thank you for your generosity and for making veterinary services available here in our community. We could not do it without the generosity of Santa Barbara’s animal loving community.
